Hello All,

JaNell had a rough day yesterday with fever and chills. Today started off the same, but thankfully it is ending on a more upbeat note. She is sleeping peacefully now. JaNell got her daily Heparin shot (this will be the 24th) in the stomach. You can hardly find a spot on her stomach that isn't black and blue. There will be a blood culture test to check for infection conducted today. She was "tube free" for a couple of days, but there is four items hanging on her "tree" now. Two are antibiotics and one for hydration, and one, which is unknown to me. According to the nurse Melanie, they are "hefty and broad spectrum antibiotics." No more "sponge baths," she got to take a real shower today. Received a chest x-ray yesterday and one at noon today. Her white blood cell count and blood sugar is high.

When you are around here as long as we have been, you just have to give staff nicknames. Melanie's is: Florence Nightingale. She comes creeping around late at night, after all the doctors are in bed, with her stethoscope and hypodermic syringe. Then there is Olive Oil, and Doctor Minnie Mouse. You can just see the intelligence dripping off of Dr. Minnie Mouse. You know, the curve bustin' type student you hated to have class with. We will tell you about the nurse from H later.

Today has been a good day. We are thankful to be here and getting the care she is getting.

Happy New Year,

terry

Tell JaNell to keep Florence, Dr. Minnie and Olive in line..........That is pretty funny.
Can't wait to hear about the nurse from H...........
Glad she is doing better.
Take care

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks for the report. Do you know if they have done blood cultures on her? I'm just curious if she has an Infection in her bloodstream as well? PICC lines can cause blood infections without looking bad at the site.

Happy new year

Sorry she has had some rough days. Love you both. The staff nick names sound like you guys have been able to see a glimmer of light in the midst of some difficult circumstances. Know that both of you are loved and prayed for. May God bless you both. Hope it can be a happy new year with more good days than bad. Love y'all.

In His grip,

Maurice

Thanks for the update on JaNell's "progress." Know you are looking forward to a Christmas/New Year's celebration in your own surroundings, hope that is not too far in your future. You and your family are in out thoughts and prayers every day. Love, JC and Carole

We continue to keep all of you in our prayers. Thank you for the updates.

May God bless each of you and be with you.

Update and Random Info:

Date - 2012.01.01 @ 1:00 pm: Doctor Taylor – Test results from the blood culture indicate there is a bacterial infection of the blood. Will have to remove the PICC line, which has been in for 21 days, and test it for bacteria. It will have to be replaced. The two broad-spectrum antibiotics already injected may have taken care of the problem, but any bacteria on the tip of the PICC line will be identified to make sure. Infection might be the result of an abscess in the abdomen. Analysis will determine if the PICC line is the source of infection. Doing respiratory therapy now. Chest x-rays look the same as before. Pain level is low. Will do another cat scan at 11:00 pm, with out drinking the “stuff,” as per JaNell's instructions. We reminded Dr Wineland of her allergy to her IVP dye. Some of her medications: Protonix (for acid stomach) and Diovan . She is doing physical therapy, and could possibly be discharged form physical therapy today and just work with nursing staff.

Happy New Year...I love you both! I am so sorry to hear JaNell has had to deal with another hick-up. Guess the sugar is reacting to the fever n chills. Have they determined the cause for high white count? What did last week's CT scan show? Guess Kelly N CRYSTAL ARE ON THEIR way home. We are back in Artesia visiting with the big boys before they head back to school. can't do this laptop stuff. Give JaNell my love. I did ask for prayer for her today at the Artesia Methodist Church. She is not forgotten.
Peace n progress in 12.
