• JaNell was placed on NPO status today.

• Kelly and Robert left Las Cruces for Phoenix late this afternoon.

Hi Jalisa,

The nurse didn't say anything concerning cleaning the wound, I hope that is SOP.

Thank you for your comments,

terry

Hello,

I spoke to Kelly and am so sad to hear the below. I was curious if anyone has said if they are going to "clean out" the area of the wound with the fecal matter now so it can heal with fresh cells on the wounds vs. cells that are full of bacteria which they are now?

Take care and know that many people are thinking of you both!!

Woke up at 3:00 am this morning, I was supposed to take medication at 2:00 am. I have a slot tournament at 12:30. I think I was in third or forth place yesterday. The way it works is you have to add your two day totals. The top prize is $7000.00. I bet I don't do near as well today. I am sorry JaNell is having such a Ruff time, I know you both have to be wore plum out, I will say a prayer for yall. I am sure I will go home sometime this afternoon broke as ever. Bobby

Day 68

Hello All,

• JaNell had a good day today, with some nausea, but no emesis.

• She was removed from NPO status and had chicken broth for dinner.

• Wound nurse, Julie, says, "The fistula looks way smaller, and the wound looks good."

The fistula drain produced such a small amount of fluid, that the drain pouch will not be necessary, anymore. The JP drains are producing less fluid, also.

• Dr Wasif ordered the use of the wound vac again.

• White blood cell count: Friday 13.4 – Monday 13.9

• JaNell has been given morphine for muscle spasms and cramps. She does not like it, because it makes her nauseous. A Fentanyl patch has been prescribed to replace morphine.

• No soda pop.

Thank you for your prayers, they are very important.

Day 69

Hello All,

• JaNell was unable to work with the occupational therapist today, because of drowsiness, which was probably caused by her pain medication, Fentanyl.

• She didn’t eat her breakfast jello but enjoyed chicken broth for lunch.

• Only one incidence of throwing up occurred today.

• Julie, the wound nurse, says the wound looks good and the fistula appears to be closing.

• JaNell did four breathing exercises using an incentive spirometer, today.

• The JP drain only produced 20 cc of fluid.

• In an attempt, to determine the cause of high temperature (99.4 – 99.3) she was given a sonogram test.

Thank you for your prayers,

terry

Day 70

Hello All,

• A good day: JaNell sat up in a chair for a total of four hours. She only had one case of nausea at 4:00 AM this morning. She said thinking about drinking the contrast solution for a CT Scan caused it.

• Results from the ultrasound did not show any problems. Wound nurse, Julie, said the fistula was “behaving” and not producing any fluid.

• JaNell did seven incentive spirometer exercises, and walked 250 feet, with only three pit stops.

• Temperature 97.6 – 98.8 ; - )

• Favorite food today: TPN and chicken noodle soup (with some salt added.)

• Quote of the day: Nana says, “All news today has been good news – Makes you feel good when you don’t get a set-back.”

More later,

terry

Vic and I are on the way to Roswell to meet Mike & Lisa. I offered to babysit for the long weekend in hopes they could celebrate their anniversary. Long story short...we were talking about the possibility of driving out to see JaNell and you. Vic and understand if visitors are only to be family. We would only be in town for a day. Let me know if and when a good time will be. Are y'all closer to a going home date?
Prayers never stop,
Nancy

Day 71

Hello All,

Today was a good day for JaNell; there are no significant changes or setbacks to report.

Thank you for your support,

terry
