Adron Meddlin* TurnerAdron Medlin Turner, whowas born Feb. 2, 1894 in Glenrose,Texas, Summerville County diedthis morning. He was born toSamuel Eason and SerenaAdaline Turner. He was the lastof II children. The children wereLela Oqullla, George Wade,Moten, Sara Elizabeth (Lizie),Carol (Gari), . Polk, Alma,Celestia (Tudy), Cornelia (Bug),Adron Medlin and Alford Willis.Turner He was married to Johnie Viola Downer in Sayre, Okla.,Jan. 9, 1932. Their children wereAdron Neal born Sept. 16, 1932and died Sept. 23, 1932; AdrienneJoyce Turner (Taylor) now livingin Portales; Alan Merle, bornJan. 3, 1936 and died April 2, 1942;and Terry Lynn Turner, nowliving in Las Cruces.GrandchiIren are Kelly Janeand Ron Adron Turner and AlanLynn and Karan Elaine Taylor.Turner came to Portales whenhe was five years old. He movedto Yeso for a time with his family.When his father became ill, thefamily moved to Graham, Texas,to be with his mother's family.After his father died when Turnerwas 21, he rode a horse and buggyback to Yeso where he planned tohomestead. The trip tocK 15 days.In 1918 he was called into theArmy and spent eight months andeight days in San Antonio, Texas,the machine gun batallion. Afterhe left the service, he came toNew Mexico to complete hisdream of homesteading. Hehomesteaded at Ramon and hada 40 section ranch when he soldout in 1947 and moved to Portaleswhere he lived and farmed untilhis death.He attended the First BaptistChurch and was a member of theWWI Barracks.Services will be Thursday at 2p.m. at the First Baptist Churchwith Dr. Herbert Bergstromofficiating. Burial will be In thePortales Cemetery.Paullbears will be DouglasStone, Glenn Ezell, WalterMcGuire, Weldon Jones, VonnieJasper and Fred Stephens.Honorary pallbearers will be allfriends.* MedIan>
